April 2008

Have you ever been in the woods at dusk? The color of purple flowers at that time, just before it gets dark, against the beautiful green leaves and trees, is absolutely breathtaking- that was the inspiration for this wedding. It was at the Harold Pratt Mansion in Manhattan- a lovely venue. And lucky for us, lilacs are in peak season now. Their gorgeous purple blooms looked so stunning in the simple, clear, tall vases. We also used tall and short simple clear votives, and had clear small cylinders of a few wildflowers all along the dupioni silk green runners. And the feature pieces were the purple wildflower garden boxes.

Vane from the Brooklyn Bride sent me this photo of my table at the showcase. It was a very organic design- the flowers were wine peony tulips, coral peonies, viburnum, anemones, sweet pea, and wine and white ranunculus. On the tables were espresso colored wooden chargers with gold/green dishes, tall stem votive candles, on lush celery green dupioni (raw) silk place mats, and a chocolate brown bengaline cloth. In the background are balls of moss and twigs- I liked this finishing touch, it made the whole piece fun and whimsical.

The oh-so-talented Allison Chipak at Still Photography took these images of a bouquet that I did. The flowers are anemones (with the black centers), artichokes, wine colored peony tulips, wine sweet pea and hydrangea, wrapped in a forest green double satin cuff, and a creme/white polkadot ribbon (to reflect the anemones.

Emily and Jonathon are lovely, their March wedding was so sweet and romantic. She wanted lacy and soft blooms (peonies and sweetpea- some of my favorite flowers), in candy pinks and cremes, with dusty miller silvery grey. Here is a shot of the bride getting her bouquet. The photos were taken by Jacob Pritchard- he did an incredible job!
